Little Miami Brewing Co.

This is a brewery that I have been wanting to go to for a long time. Every time we drive by this beautiful location sitting next to the Little Miami River it has looked so inviting. The building is entirely open to nature. It has a large deck on the ground level and a roof top deck as well. All with wonderful views of the river. It is a perfect spot on a nice sunny day to go for a pint of brew, which is exactly what we did on a lovely, sunny day in September. There was a large crowd, yet we were able to grab a table on the top deck with no problems.

View is from the parking lot. River is around to the left.

The inside is lively and very active on the day we came in. Even with the large crowd, the service was top notch. After grabbing a table up top, we ordered some nachos and pretzel sticks. The nachos were good, not great. Seemed a small step up from what I could have made at home. Pretzel sticks were good, if a bit standard. They came with the usual beer cheese and a side of brown mustard for dipping. We chose not to get anything else to eat, but the pizza (which seemed to be at every table) looked very good. They also have a taco truck parked next to the lower deck.

As for the beer…I tried several of their selections. As you may already know, my favorite is a good hazy. This is the one beer they did not have on hand (very disappointing). However, I did sample several of their beers and was happy with what I tried.

The Pterodactyl, a Hefeweizen, (ABV 5.4%) was a nice beer. Light, with notes of lemon and banana. This is a good beer to go with the atmosphere of this brewery. The Grateful, a West Coast IPA, (ABV 6%) was one I was hopeful for as they can have similar profiles to a hazy at some breweries. Not the case here unfortunately. Not a bad beer by any means, but to piney and hoppy for my palate (especially on a warm day outside). Misty Mountain IPA (ABV 7%) was light in color, with a citrusy and hoppy profile. Once again, a tad to much hop for me on a warm day so I moved on. My next sample was the Uno Mas Mexican Lager (ABV 5%). This was a winner for me! A cloudy beer that took me back to the beaches in Baja, CA. Refreshing and perfect for the weather. My last sample was Bike Path, a pilsner (ABV 4.5%). Very light in color with that nice “skunky” aroma common with most Pilsners. This was another winner for me. The flavor profile may not have packed a punch, but it was light and refreshing which was exactly what I was looking for while sunning on their deck.

Note the river in the background. Great views.

Mrs. Bacchanalian decided to go a different route and went with their Bloody Mary’s ($10). I have never been a fan of Bloody Mary’s, but I consider Mrs. B. to be a connoisseur of them. She quite enjoyed the two she had. She said they were “thick and flavorful.” She mentioned that they could have had a bit more salt and Tabasco for her taste, but she did very much enjoy them.

All-in-all, I really enjoyed my experience at Little Miami Brewing Co. I would love to see them produce a nice hazy as it would go perfectly with their environment. I will definitely go back here to hang out on their deck and enjoy an Uno Mas and perhaps some tacos! Highly recommend going here on a nice sunny weekend and enjoying their brews.
