Warped Wing Brewing Company

I am going to start off saying right off-the-bat that this was one of my favorite brewery experiences. Mrs. B and I decided to make the 45 minute drive up to Dayton, OH to visit Warped Wing on a cloudy (but nice) Saturday afternoon. I had seen Warped Wings beers in various stores around Cincinnati and was excited to visit their brewery. The brewery is located in an old brick brass and iron foundry. The brewery has a wonderful open feel with very high ceilings and a front wall that opens up (garage door).

Warped Wing’s awesome building.

Even with all of the “crazy Covid” nonsense, the brewery was a nice experience and the server was great. Our time at Warped Wing was very enjoyable.

We got to tasting flights to share so that we could maximize our experience. The first beer I tasted was a sour called Magic Mango (ABV 4.7%). With a sour mango aroma and a salty, mildly sour mango flavor,; this beer was light and refreshing. Another sour, Long-Distance High Five (ABV 5,2%), was more sour but also more fruity and tart. I know this descriptor is weird but my taste buds were reminding me of the days (very long ago) of eating Captain Crunch. Weird but that was what kept coming up for me. Up next was Liquid Picnic a farmhouse ale-saison ( ABV. 4.8%). The beer has a nice nose of pear and light lemon with flavors of the same. The beer is light and easy drinking. The next beer was of the same name but with a very interesting twist, Liquid Picnic aged in Chardonnay barrels (ABV 5%). I very much enjoyed this beer. With much of the same pear like quality of the previous beer but with a distinct chardonnay flavor, this beer was a bright refreshing pleasure. This next beer I had seen many times in the stores in Cincinnati and had come close to purchasing so I was excited to finally taste it. Gamma Bomb IPA (ABV 7.2%) had a slight bitterness with flavors of apple and lemon. Nice beer. Ermal’s Belgium Style Cream Ale (ABV 5.4%) had that very distinct “beer” aroma (yes I know that is quite descriptive). It was a very basic beer. Good beer, just basic. Hydro Haze (ABV 5.5%) was the only “real” New England on their list (my only disappointment). Nice hazy with a good mouth feel. Tropical flavors. Not my favorite hazy but a good reliable hazy. Last up was Mr. Mean Imperial Haze (ABV 8.5%). As this is an imperial, I do not consider it a “real” hazy. Incredibly cloudy appearance (the server said it did not usually come out like it did). The beer had a slight bitterness with hop and pear. It was a good beer, but I am not typically a big fan of imperials.

A wide selection of tasty brews.

As for food…We shared an order of the Tater Kegs. Sooo good! These little guys are loaded tater tots and are very tasty. I would come back again just for these. I had the Bison Bacon burger which was mighty tasty as well. On a pretzel bun and cooked to perfection, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mrs. B had the Smoked Warped Wings and she gave them high praise. As good as all the food that we ate was, it made me curious to try more of their menu.

From the quality of the beer, the tastiness of their food and the open, inviting feel of their space…this was a wonderful beer experience. I will definitely come back here again, even with it being 45 minutes away. I highly recommend Warped Wing to all beer enthusiasts.
