Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

$21.99

I feel as though I am getting very close to not drinking wine anymore. I know that may be a bit of a drastic statement, but it is really getting to the point that there are no more quality wines in my price point. We tend to look at wines between 20 and 30 dollars and the quality is just not like it used to be. Am I the only one who thinks this? 10-15 years ago, when you bought a bottle in this price range you could reliably get a wine that was a good drinking, quality wine, but now it is hit or miss (mostly miss). This cabernet sauvignon from Alexander Valley Vineyards begins with aromas of cherries and violets making you think that there might just be something to look forward to. This quickly ends once you begin the tasting. The tannins are very tight giving the wine an astringency that is difficult to get past. Even after letting my glass sit for about 20 minutes, the wine remained tight. I had assumed that with this producer and at this price point, I would be able to sit back and enjoy a nice glass of cabernet but instead was greeted with a wine that might be good years from now but definitely was not worth buying now.
