Carmenere-Syrah-Malbec 2015
February 28, 2020
This is a Chilean red by Elqui Wines. The wine does not really have a name except for the names of the grapes that make up the blend. The blend is 55% Syrah, 27% Carmenere, and 18% Malbec. The wine is a very dark purple, almost black in the glass. The aroma is light and a bit musty and perhaps a touch of smoke. There are not the heavy aromas of fruit that you might expect from a wine that is mostly Syrah. Jammy! Boysenberry to begin with that quickly moves into a more herbaceous flavor. I think I was expecting a bigger wine, but this is still a good and drinkable wine. Some interesting characteristics to play with here.
