Elouan Pinot Noir 2017
Even though I already knew that Oregon is big for Pinot Noir, this is (I think) the first one I have sampled from Oregon. A richer darker color than I would have expected from a Pinot Noir (I am beginning to suspect this is a characteristic of Oregon Pinots). Lovely perfumed aromas of cherry and clove. Jammy flavors of boysenberry with a hint of vanilla and perhaps just a touch of pepper in the background. There is some mushroom hiding in here as well. This Pinot has a much thicker, rounder mouthfeel than I was expecting as well. Medium bodied with smooth tannins. If you have read any of my reviews on Pinots, you know I love them but can not afford to drink the ones I know would most appeal to my taste buds. This Pinot is quite good and drinkable. I would come back to this. The wine was originally priced at 33.99. I would not have purchased it at that price, but I have no problem at all buying it at 19.99.
