Joel Gott Chardonnay 2018
November 25, 2020
The label on this wine says, “Our Chardonnay is stainless in style…” The way this is worded it is hard to be sure exactly their meaning, however from the way I viewed this wine it must be a reference to it being aged in stainless steel vats instead of oak. The wine is very soft in color with aromas of peach and melon on the nose. Flavors that are tropical but subtle in their characters. The wine has a nice silky mouthfeel with no presence of vanilla or butter that you would see in a wine aged in French oak. This is a refreshing change from the heavier, buttery Chardonnays you usually see. I love a good buttery Chardonnay, don’t get me wrong, but this is a delightful wine for its difference.
