Guinness (nuff said)
Guinness stout has always been a favorite of mine. I could not possibly count the number of pints I have had of this particular brew, either as a straight up pint of Guinness or as a black and tan or even a snakebite. This has always been the standard of stouts for me, which is why most stouts made by microbreweries are a bit to harsh for me. Mrs. Bacchanalians love of Guinness was one of the things that attracted me to her when we first met. Although not considered a “crat” beer I wanted to do an official review so that I could publicly declare my love for this amazingly reliable beer. The appearance of Guinness as it churns in the glass is probably one of its most iconic elements. I could gaze into that hypnotic motion for hours. The nose is heavily malty. Flavors of roasted malt, chocolate and just a touch of biters are all combined perfectly balanced with the wonderfully creamy mouthfeel that Guinness fans have come to know and love. Although my taste preference has moved to lighter bodied and fruiter style beers, this will always be a go-to for me.
