Bodegas Lan Rioja Crianza 2017
When you purchase any wine for a price of $12.99, you are rolling the dice on if it is going to be drinkable or undrinkable. We were in a gambling mood so… This Rioja is a blend of 96% Tempranillo and 4% Mazuelo. The wine has a nice dark ruby dolor in the glass. The aromas are overall light with an earthy and woody character and some dark plum. The flavors are light dark berry and do not linger on the palate. Tannins are medium in body. The wine finishes a bit watery. Not a horrible wine and honestly at the price I was not expecting much, so overall it was fine for the evenings meal. I like to look up a wine after I have given my own review to see what others have said. I was shocked to see that the Wine Enthusiast actually gave this wine a pretty decent review and rated it a 92. Just goes to show that you need to trust your own taste buds and not the reviewers.
