Palm City Brewing Company
On a vacay down to Florida, I had the pleasure of visiting Palm City Brewing Company. Prior to coming down to Florida I had done a little research and their beers really excited me, so it was with some anticipation that I entered their establishment. The exterior is probably the most bland of all the breweries I have ever been to, hiding the greatness that awaited inside.
We were one of the first to enter upon their opening up this day., so the space inside was pretty much empty. The interior is open and inviting and fairly typical of most breweries. A giant wooden beach chair and directional signs to various destination breweries great you as you enter. The space is set up to pull you towards the bar (which I immediately did).
I sampled several of their awesome beers while there. Starting with the Space Taxi DDH NEIPA. At only 4.5% ABV, this hazy is a quaffer. A lovely hazy yellow color with light tropical flavors, this was a nice beer to start with. Number two was Citra & Sidekicks Imperial/ Double IPA (8%ABV). With a thick, orange appearance and a nice creamy mouthfeel loaded with papaya this was a nice one. Third up was my absolute favorite of the day, Vivrant Thing Imperial/ Double New England/Hazy (9%ABV). Thick, hazy, light orange color in the glass. Very creamy mouthfeel with layers of mango, pineapple and papaya flavors. I could have drank this one all day long (probably not at 9%). Next up was Korey’s Army Double New England IPA (8%). Lighter in haze than the others with a more yellowish color. Once again greeted with a nice creamy mouthfeel. A slightly sharper citrus taste with more orange flavors. Ms. B got the Mango Breeze fruit beer (4%). Very light color with slight tastes of mango. Kinda cider like (not really my thing). My last taste was the Last Laugh American IPA (6%ABV). Pale, goldish brown color with a light malty and citrus flavor profile. Good beer but it was the IPA’s that really rocked my world.
I can honestly say that the only disappointing thing that I experienced at Palm City was that I did not buy any of their beer to take home with me. I later went to a couple of local beer stores and sadly found that I could only get their beer back at the brewery. Lesson learned…next time I will be loading up for the drive home!
