Tactical Brewing El Campeon

ABV 4.5%

On a recent vacation down to Florida, I made it my mission to get me some beer from Tactical Brewing Company in Orlando. Unfortunately, the beer Gods were not smiling on me this trip. No matter how hard I searched, I only came across one beer from these guys. This Elote Mexican lager brewed with flaked corn, tajin and lime would not normally be something I would have picked, but because it was all I could find from Tactical I decided to go for it anyway. The beer is a collaboration with a local street food vendor in Orlando called Cholo Dogs. The beer pours a beautiful clear amber color with a nice head development. The head has a bit of slushy ice in it as I left it in the freezer just a tad to long. Did not seem to affect the brew otherwise. The aroma has an interesting smoky quality. This smokiness comes through in the flavor as well, along with some spice. This must be from the tajin, which is a Mexican spice. Definitely a good beer and an interesting one with the spicy and smoky characteristics. I would have liked to have tasted more of the lime in it as it would have helped balance out the tajin flavors. Mrs. Bacchanalian absolutely loved this beer. For me…good beer just not really my thing.
