Theakston Old Peculier

Theakston Old Peculier is a British classic Premium Ale that was created i the early 1800’s. It is a classic that should be on every beer aficionado’s list to sample at least once. This was my first sampling of Old Peculier. The beer pours a very dark ruby (nearly black) with very little head formation. The nose is mild and slightly fruity. The flavor profile has malt, cherry and banana bread but all of it a watered down version of these. The beer is nice and certainly drinkable but does not pack the wow factor of other classic beers I have tried, Bellhaven and Boddingtons to name two that are wonderful beers. I am glad to have checked this one off my list but sadly will not come back to it again.
